A CHARITY do billed ‘A Charity Evening with David Leon & The Stars of Beatlemania’ takes place at the Sime Darby Convention Centre in Kuala Lumpur on Dec 7.
It is organised by the Lejadi Group, in conjunction with its 13th anniversary, and Yayasan Amal Wangsa, under the patronage of chairman Datin Seri Noriah Ana Razak (wife of Federal Territories Minister Datuk Zulhasnan Rafique)
The proceeds from this event are to be donated to Yayasan Amal Wangsa (a non-governmental organisation), other NGOs as well as physically challenged and underprivileged Malaysians.
The highlight of the charity dinner is a special performance by The Stars Of Beatlemania, who bear an uncanny resemblance to the ‘fabulous four’ and are world-renowned for their recreation of a ‘live’ Beatles concert. The Stars of Beatlemania is widely acknowledged to be the world’s premier Beatle music experience.
David Leon starred as John Lennon in the Hollywood movie Beatlemania, to rave reviews, and joining him here is the cast from the Broadway musical.
For more than a decade, this group’s awesome recreation of the magic of a ‘live’ Beatles concert has been thrilling audiences across the world.
Its musical talents were honed from their individual lead roles in world-renowned pop bands, namely, Herman’s Hermits, Badfinger and Three Dog Night.
They have also backed superstars such as David Bowie, Kenny Loggins, Little Richard and Stevie Wonder.
The spectacular show opens with a recreation of the Beatles legendary performance on The Ed Sullivan Show in 1964.
To accurately and authentically recreate the sights and sounds of the fabulous four from Liverpool, David Leon and his group actually play the original Gretch, Rickenbaker and Hofner guitars through the same Vox amplifiers that the Beatles played.
The group will also be dressed in signature Beatles black suits and boots to take audiences for a magical nostalgic trip to the tune of the fabulous four’s all-time favourites such as I Want to Hold Your Hand,She Loves You, A Hard Day’s Night, I Saw Her Standing There and Can’t Buy Me Love.
Fantastic costume changes include the exact replicas of costumes from the Sgt. Pepper’s period, as the band performs masterpieces such as Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, With a Little Help From My Friends, Hello Goodbye, Penny Lane and A Day In The Life.
The show climaxes with the band transporting the audience to the year 1969 and the final phase of the Beatles’ remarkable career.
Wearing the costumes from the famous Abbey Road album cover, The Stars Of Beatlemania performs such classics as Let It Be, Hey Jude, Something, Get Back and Revolution.
Showtime is at 7pm. Tickets are priced at RM360 and above, inclusive of an eight-course Chinese dinner.
