Motown charity drive nets RM35,500
KUALA LUMPUR, Sun – The Motown Charity Extravaganza held here last night raised RM35,500.
The sum was collected at the charity dinner through the auction of endorsed items like two neckties signed by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi.
One of them went under the hammer for RM6,000 and the other, RM25,000.
Other items included two limited edition photographs autographed by Motown superstars and two silk scarves autographed by Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil.
The proceeds will go to the Monfort Boys Town, Pakistan and Afghanistan Quake and Winter Relief Fund, Yayasan N.U.R. (a fund to help children), the Rumah K.I.D.S. (Kanak-Kanak Ini Disayangi), Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and the soon-to-be launched Yayasan Kepala Batas.
There was a performance by the Motown 5 led by Donne Ray Radford. The Lejadi group of companies, which deals mainly in construction projects, organized the dinner along with corporate sponsors.
